Update

I checked into the submission details for the Aspen Short Film Festival. They will have their call for entries next month for September submissions. I am going to submit "Levitation" to them.

Once I know the fate of the movie at Sundance and Aspen, I will look into further smaller festival submissions.

I didn't do any writing yesterday. Now I am 11 pages behind my word count goal. I am planning to work at catching up this weekend. The RPG class for Evolution will count toward that and I think I can crank it out quickly.

New Projects

I've proposed writing a class for Evolution on RPG writing. I think this will be a fun thing to put together. Plus, I get to share what I've learned with others. I feel I've gotten a lot out of Evolution so far, and it is nice to complete the cycle.

The first class is going to be on researching RPG games and companies.

Dragonfly

A strange thing happened to me yesterday.

I got in the car to go home from work and a dragonfly, about an inch and a half long, flew into my car. It banged against the window twice and dropped on the dash board. I tried to shoo it out the window, but it had died.

I kept the dragonfly and brought it home and put it with my spell supplies. It seemed like too much of a sign to ignore. Just so you know, I bought a pair of tennis shoes to wear when I shot 'Levitation', which had dragonflies on the sides. I had kind of thought it went with the theme of the movie and with the magical hopes to do well in the movie industry. For the universe to present me with a real dragonfly is pretty cool.

Updated

I have made some changes on my Inktip.com listing. I changed the logline and the synopsis. Last week I changed the resume. There have been quite a few logline hits this past week and two more synopsis downloads. STILL, no one has checked out the script.

I feel now that I am getting the chance to test what types of loglines, resumes and synopsis will attract interest in the industry.

I am also starting to think about sending Levitation to other film festivals.

Film-wise, I want to have another 2 completed feature length scripts under my belt and then really hit up these managers.

I want to get Complimentary Murder done and submitted to agents and get the first draft of Psionics Institutes done by the ned of next month. then I can concentrate on the next tasks.

It's So Hard...

It's so hard to keep up with the D and G word count goal! I REALLY have to struggle to hit my daily goals, but I am not able to catch up on the pages that I have fallen behind on.

Word Count

At lunch I managed to get one of today's 2 pages written. Yeah, me!

I'm looking at more pips to pick up. (Did I mention I love pips?) I can time myself on writing and include a 'top speed' pip, if I can ever find a solid hour in which to speed write.

Evolution has slow activity periods. That bums me out. I've really come to depend on it to keep me motivated. More activity would keep it lively.

Paper Ring Chain

I managed 1 page of the two I needed for yesterday's word count. To be fun and motivational, I made a paper ring chain, with 1 ring for every page I am behind, so I could rip off the rings as I catch up. I have 9 rings on my chain right now.

I also managed to type up a few pages of the new CM chapter yesterday morning.

Baby-steps are still progress!

Bummer

I didn't get much done yesterday after that last post. I'm bummed out over some personal problems. I did escape into the next book in the read-a-thon. It is The Cat Who Turned On and Off, by Lilian Jackson Braun. My personal favorite of the 'Cat Who' mystery series.

I'm going to try and get some typing done this morning on the new CM chapter.

Update

I updated my resume on inktip.com. I'm not sure it will do me any good, but I did it.

I also left a message on Evolution asking for a scriptwriting challenge. I hope someone will decide to go with it. It'd be nice to work on new scripts within the framework of a challenge (and get a lovely pip for my efforts).

Resume

My resume is mainly done now. I want to have another 2-4 scripts in hand before approaching managers. I'll see if a someone at Evolution would be interested in doing a scriptwriting challenge.

Progress

I did manage to complete my research for the next section of Psionics Institutes. I also completed one page of the first draft. Forward motion, which is a plus, but still it brought me back down to -6 pages for my David and Goliath Word Count Challenge.

I'm working on my screenwriting resume this morning. I'll get back to Psionics Institutes this afternoon. If I have time, I'm going to try and type some of the new CM chapter.

So Far This Weekend...

I finished the second new chapter for Complimentary Murder.  I'm not sure if the two remaining chapters are needed, or if I can merge them in to a single chapter.  I'll find out when I reach that stage in the story.  I'll type in the new chapter on Monday.  Then I need to revise it and chapters 7-9 to reach my goal of having the novel halfway done this month.

I am still about 5 pages behind my D and G Word count Challenge goal for this month, but I've been able to keep it steady at that deficit.  I'll be returning to the Psionics Institutes book today.

I completed my book for this week's reading challenge.  It was A PERFECT LIFE? by Dawn Atkins.
