Synopsis First Draft

I wrote out a first draft of the query letter and synopsis. The synopsis ran ten pages. Way to long. 1-2 pages is more ideal, so I am going to revisit it tonight and see if I can start slicing it down to size. I'd even let it go at three pages, but ten is way too long.

I like the query letter, though. Nothing form-letter-ish about it at all. I think I captured the voice of the story in the letter, too. Which is important.

Maybe next week I'll mail this puppy out.

Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I'm DONE!!!!!!!

The first draft of Deluge is completed! I think it with adding page numbers and all that good stuff it ran about 90k words. Thirty chapters on the dot! Whew! My arms are sour from that last typing-fest. I think it only took me about 6 weeks to do the whole mess. That is the part that blows my mind.

Now it gets to 'cool off' while I catch up on some school work and come up with the query letter and synopsis.

What Happens Next?

I just finished Chapter 28. I have all the charcters in place for the big final confrontation. The chapter ends with the hero moving in to start the action.

So of course, the next chapter should have some amazing conflict, right?

Only I have not got a clue what will happen. Not a clue.

Isn't writing fun?

My plan is to listen to some music, maybe watch an action movie this evening and let the problem gel in my brain. Something amazing always happens, so I trust Simon (my hero) to knock my socks off.

Oops, as soon as I thought that, a inspiration hit me. Got to go write!

Chapter 27 Done

That concluded the big final romance scene, which took 3 chapters to cover. Now I just need the confrontation with the bad guy and then wrap this puppy up. I'm so pleased with the progress on this novel. I wonder if I'll ever have one come this fast again.
