Running A Marathon

This David and Goliath Challenge is tough! I've been toiling all day and I am still 6 pages behind. Can't stop working at it though. I'm really pleased with the progress on my WIPs.

Now I am going to type up the chapter I wrote last weekend from Complimentary Murder so I'll have it ready for the July Polish week coming up.

I've also signed up for a reading marathon, to read a book a week for several months. I think it will help me keep fresh and motivated as a writer and will keep me from feeling guilty for taking time out to read.

WOW!

I just checked my inktip stats and I had a lot of activity the last few days. 13 new production companies had my logline show up in their searches, with a several of them getting it more than once, for a total of 35 logline views.

I have only had a total of 2 download the synopsis and 3 (one company twice) downloading my resume. I NEED to update my resume!

I just wish someone would download the script! (And then buy it for tons of money!)

I just mailed my submission to Sundance. (Fingers crossed) I won't hear back from them until the first week of December.

Word Count

I made my David and Goliath word count for yesterday, but I am still a day behind. I hope to catch up this afternoon. This weekend I am writing the second new chapter for Complimentary Murder.

The July Polish Challenge starts this sunday. I'd like to have the second chapter of CM done by monday and type and polish both new chapters for next week's challenge. PLUS keep up with the David and Goliath word count challenge.

It'll be tough, but I love the ground I am covering thanks to these challenges!

A Good Start

I've got a good start on the next sub-section of Psionics Institutes. It took a few days of research through my Traveller source books, but I finally have enough background information to complete this part. Much of this information will cross over into the next sub-section, so I hope and plan to have both sub-sections done by the weekend. (And in the process complete my David and Goliath word count goals for the week.)

I'm not sure if the Harlequin's contest will actually be worth my taking the time to do it. The prize is a critique by one of their editors of a romance manuscript, but I don't have one done.

Some info I came across yesterday on a website for a management company clued me in on a tidbit. They want folks who have written at least 4 feature scripts for their script readers, so I think that might be the magic number to tell them I have when I ask for representation. That's another thing to work on once Psionics Institutes and Complimentary Murder are completed. I do have several script ideas in mind. I also think I'd like to approach one or both of the management companies looking for script readers, it might be a backdoor in, if only they will let me do it online. (I can't move to California.)

I'm going to listen to Space Cadet (see sidebar) and work on PI now.

One Chapter Down

I completed the first of the four new chapters I need for Complimentary Murder yesterday. It came out to be 10 pages, but typed I think it will run longer.

I also did some research on the next section in Psionics Institutes. I'm going to work on that later today.

I got the money order for the Sundance Film Festival and a new CD to copy the photos onto. I need to get those film stills to the photoshop and have prints made. Once I get them, the packet will be ready to go.

Now I am going to finish making up my writing resume to send to managers. If I could sell a script, all my problems would be solved.

Progress

I'm on page 9 of the Complimentary Murder chapter. I want to get to page 13 before the end of the day to be caught up on the David and Goliath challenge. I have been steadily gaining momentum. I hope it carries over to Psionics Institutes when I get back to it tomorrow.

I have to run to the store and get some pictures printed. They are movie stills. I'm going to select one to send to Sundance. I also need to get the $25 money order to send with it and then I can seal the package and mail it tomorrow (when the post office is open).

I watched it several times yesterday. I think it is alright. I think it has a chance.

Application Submitted to Sundance

I submitted the online application to Sundance for Levitation. My film# is USF0372. Whhoo-Hooo!

Now I have got to get the submission packet put together.

I also made it to page 6 of the new chapter for Complimentary Murder. I need it to get to page 11 today to catch up to the David and Goliath challenge.

By the end of this month I'd like to have the entire section I'm working on of Psionics Institutes done, Submit the Levitation packet to sundance, have at least 2 of the 4 new chapters for Complimentary Murder completed and have at least half of the old chapters revised. Plus keep up with the David and Goliath Challenge and submit resumes to several managers.
