Yesterday

Yesterday I caught up on the Traveller's Log. I try to stay a week ahead on it so I never have to rush to get a day's post out. The characters and story frequently surprise me. I plan for certain things to occur, and the characters wise up to it and make a different choice. It is quite interesting to just let them go and see where they lead. Since this is a never-ending story it doesn't require traditional plot point, but the story wants to circle back on itself naturally, making for very interesting twists.

The first gem of an idea came to me for the script for February. It will be called "War Paint". I wrote down a few bits and pieces, but I don't want to get distracted from completing "Remember Me" first.

Script Progress

The script of "Remember Me" is just pouring out of me. I have it about 1/4th of the way done. I'm scratching it out on paper and pencil just as fast as I can. It'll need typing and all the formating, but that is nothing. Once I get the meat of it down, the rest will be easy.

Resolution Progress

I am making progress on the script "Remember Me". It is actually sort of flowing out onto the paper without much effort, which is fantastic. Most of it is coming in snatches and clumps, which will have to be sewn together later. I plan to use the last week of the month as the real format and polish time, so I am working to have the meat of the script done in the next 2 1/2 weeks.

Finally, some reply...

Although not the one I was hoping and expecting to hear. Steve Jackson Games' Traveller editor got back with me about the proposal I mailed them a few months ago. It is not clear what will become of the project at this time, but he was letting me know things were up in the air and that's why I hadn't heard back from them yet.

I am going to reply with a little note about Traveller's Log. I would love for that to become 'official'. I'd jump at the chance to write Traveller fiction for print or even e-book.

Change of Direction

I just could not get behind the mystery I was writing, so off the writing schedule it goes!

I have been keeping up with Traveller's Log, which is very fun but doesn't pay.

I have a new project I have started. I have been in the throes of a mid-life crisis, although I may be a bit young for it. Anyway, I have been working at the same crummy job for 10 1/2 years and I am sick of it. But I can't quit unless I am making substantial money elsewhere. The only thing I WANT to do as a career is write, but very few people get paid enough to do that full time. Except screenwriters.

So my new year's resolution is going to be this: To study screenwriting and turn out a complete and polished script every month.
