4000+

I'm not at my usual computer, so I can't type in my most recent section, but it should put me over 4000 words, finally. A character template should push it to past 4300. So just a little more juice in the revisions and a good double-checking and it should be good to go sometime tomorrow.

Next Ideas

I've already been tossing around ideas for my next project. While I'm waiting for the response from Steve Jackson Games I am going to be working on a writing sample for Wizards of the Coast.

The writing sample needs to SHINE to really impress them. My motto for the sample short story is "Make their testosterone boil!" That means a little teasing the reader with a sexy heroine and blow their minds with some serious combat and throw in some destiny and orcs and the stage is set!

A Little Progress

I only added a few hundred words yesterday. My internet was not working and I'd become used to listening to Space Cadet in Live365 while writing. I couldn't get in the groove without it.

I'm getting close to 4000 words and I'm running out of things to write about. When I complete my outlined items, I'll revise and possibly add some more lively elements to the prose. I'd rather the word count be slightly low rather than pad the writing. The sample will be a complete section though, so I think it will work alright.

Now I just need to figure out how to create a zip file. :-)

3532 words of 5000

I'm 70% completed with the sample for Gurps Traveller: Psionics Institutes. WhooHoo! My outline includes several more items, which I hope will bring me to within at least a couple hundred words of the target.

This weekend is still looking good for the delivery date of the proposal.

Wish me luck!

Half way there

I've got about 2500 words of the required 5000 sample for GURPS Traveller: Psionics Institutes completed. I hope to have it done and sent by the weekend.

Yeah!!!

The editor didn't hold my goof against me. He welcomed my proposal and even said he'll work with me on the sample and outline to get it into shape before sending it to publisher for approval.

Yeah!

The deadline for the final draft would be late 2004 or early 2005, which should give me plenty of time to get the 113,000 word monster done.

I've already started the sample and I have a pretty good outline. I've got over 1300 words done on the sample already.

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!

I accidentally sent an incomplete draft of the query to the editor. I sent a second version that was correct right afterward apologizing for the first one. Hopefully he'll read his e-mail in reverse order and get the one in which I sound at least somewhat sane first and delete the goof up unread.

Gosh! I hope this doesn't scew my chances!

Oh, well!

I'M BACK!

Mystery Radio Network is now in the hands of a new station manager, and I'm back to writing.

First thing I've done is make a proposal for a suppliment for GURPS Traveller called "Psionics Institutes". I'll e-mail the query today, which will almost certainly be approved for a proposal. The proposal will include both an outline (which I've already completed) and a 5000 word writing sample, which I'll work on as soon as I finish with this blog entry.
