So close to "The End"

I've completed the edits on Chapter 12 and 13. (Except for a short flashback in Chapter 12 which I'll add later) I have Chapter 14 and the tiny Chapter 15 left to edit.

First Royality Statement

I got my first royalty statement from Venus Press. My story ALWAYS has only been out about a month and in that time sold 27 copies. That's nice. I'll get a better idea how it is doing next quarter when I have the full quarter to review.

I really need to do some promotion for it. Once I have Her Dangerous Promise sent out and school under control I'll work on that, and on a few more short things to submit to Venus Press and other e-publishers.

I just completed the edits on Chapter 11.

It went fast, which worried me because I was afraid I was missing something, but I remembered some advice from Michael A. Stackpole about editing, that if you did well the first time and don't need changes, don't sweat it, just move on. I made my new word count for this chapter by pulling in the sex scene deleted from earlier in the book. :wink:

On to Chapter 12. The hero is out of commission and the bad guy is going after the heroine now. Exciting stuff!

Taking The Plunge

I'm right up to the start of the end game now, and I find myself slow to edit this section. I'm not sure why. Maybe because it seems like a long hunk of words, maybe because the action is moving fast and I'm worried about adding description and word count. Maybe it is because my heroine is hesitant and I am empathizing too much with her.

I just need to take a big breath and plunge into it.

Chapter 10 Edits Completed

Chapter 10 is edited now. I added a couple new scenes and caught back up to the word count goal for the novel so far. So I am moving on to Chapter 11. The big ending starts in Chapter 11, so I hope this means I'll be able to move through the rest of the novel quickly now.
